Sunthorn Phu

          The important day of Thailand is Sunthorn Phu  Day because our Thailand has the best poet. Thai students must learn about Thai literature in Thai subject. They arrange Sunthorn Phu Day by make up poem contest or role play of Thai literature.
                  
                  “Declared a World Poet by UNESCO in 1986, Sunthorn Phu was born during the reign of King Rama I on June 26, 1786. His house was located near the Grand Palace. Several years after his birth, Sunthorn Phu’s parents were divorced. His father later became a monk at Bangrum Temple, while his mother was a nurse for the royal family.
          Many educational institutes across Thailand arrange activities to celebrate Sunthorn Phu Day each year.  Sarawittaya School in Bangkok will arrange Thai language competitions and musical play contests to celebrate Sunthorn Phu’s birthday. Apart from exhibiting Sunthorn Phu’s masterpieces and information about the poet, Srisuda School in collaboration with Bangkok Noi District Office will hold various contests to commemorate Sunthorn Phu Day, including singing classic songs from Thai literature, poem writing and drawing characters from local literature.”

            From the article, every year of June 26, Sunthorn Phu Day announces a world poet by UNESECO. This is Sunthorn Phu’s birthday. His parents were divorced. He lived near the Grand Palace. Every school celebrate Sunthorn Phu Day by arrange Thai language contest. For example Srisuda School, it arrange by singing classic songs from Thai literature, poem writing and drawing from local literature.

             To sum up, Sunthorn Phu Day is the one of important for Thailand because it thinks of Sunthorn Phu by arrange the party. Every school arrange by contest such as singing of Thai literature, drawing and writing poem. For me, I think that it’s the best day because I proud that my country has the best poem.
